about me

as a photographer, i look for the soul of a thing, be it a friend over for dinner, a dog dancing in the grass, a lone tree in a lonelier field. when shooting portraits, i like to spend time with people, getting a sense of who they are, what makes them laugh, what makes them strong. when shooting places, i look for a blend of tradition and surprise, classic themes mixed with hidden details. as a writer, i simply let my fingers fly, and the words come tumbling out like jacks onto a warped wooden floor. sometimes the pattern makes sense; sometimes i need to throw them down again. the trick is not losing the ball behind the sofa.

i live in the hudson valley region of new york, and am available for portrait sessions. specialties include environmental portraiture, children, pets and animals, home remodeling documentation, non-traditional weddings, unions, and other family events. writing, editing and proofreading services are also available. feel free to contact me if you have questions or want to talk about how we might work together.
